The Department of Sociology was established in the year 2014 and is run by two faculty members - Miss Silan Das, Head of the Department and Mr. Sagarjeet Bhattacharya, lecturer. This Department provides only BA Honors Course with 52 seats.
The mission of the Department of Sociology is to promote scientific understanding of social life through teaching, scholarship, and service. The department is made up of faculty and staff who are energetically and effectively engaged in teaching, research and community building. Sociology classes are rigorous, inclusive, inspiring and well connected to the world outside the classroom. Students develop sociological imagination while gaining enriching experience and tangible skills that will lead to future success.
The department provides high quality, inclusive educational experience that challenges and prepares students to become engaged and effective members of their communities, engage in interesting and relevant scholarship and interact regularly with stakeholders from wider communities, producing valuable public sociology.
